Young: One or two year old wines conserving the primary fresh fruity characteristics.
Crianza wines: Wines in at least their third year with at least one year spent in oak casks and some months in the bottle. White wines must have been aged in barrels for at least 6 months.
Reserva wines: Selected wines from the best vintages that, due to their superior characteristics have been aged for 3 years, of which at least 1 was spent in the barrel. In white wines, the aging period is 2 years with at least 6 months in the barrel.
Gran Reserva wines: Selected wines from exceptional years and that spend at least 2 years in barrels and 3 in the bottle. For white wines the aging period is 4 years, of which at least 6 months must be in the barrel.
By sweetness:
1) Dry wines: Containing < 5 grams/litre of sugar.
2) Medium-dry wines: Containing 5-15 g/l of sugar.
3) Abocado wines: Containing between 15-30 g/l of sugar.
4) Medium-sweet wines: Containing between 30-50 g/l of sugar.
5) Sweet wines: Containing > 50 g/l of sugar.
